You've just recorded a magic drum performance, or have comped together a master drum take from many takes, but the performance could still use some tightening up before you start overdubbing other instruments. Never fear, with a little effort you can create tighten up any drum performance.

Steps

  1. 1
Save a new version of the session file by going File > Save Session As.... Let's say your session file is called "Take Me Away v01.6", it would become v01.7.
  2. 2
Select your master comp playlist take, and Duplicate... the playlist.
  3. 3
Add to each track "-Comp.BD". For example, the kick drum track would be named "Drm.Kick-Comp.BD", and the rack tom track would be called "Drm.Tom 1 Rack-Comp.BD".
  4. 4
Select the first section of drums. This could be just 8 bars of a 16 bar verse, or the whole verse for example.
  5. 5
    Separate region.
    • 1ms Trigger Pad
    • Strength: 85%
    • Exclude Within: 10%
    • Crossfade Length: 3ms
