Method 1 of 2: Creating Your Own GIF

    Go to a website that turns photos or a video into a GIF. Visit this site [1] to get started. This is one of the easiest sites to use and it's free of charge. This website also doesn't add watermarks to the images you created.

    Upload your images. The website in this article allows you to upload up to 400 files as long as all of them together doesn't exceed 30MB. Click on Choose Files, press and hold CTRL and select all the images you wish to add to your GIF. Quick tip: Place all the images you want to use in one directory. After you have selected all your images, press on Upload.

    Set the settings. If your images are not the same size, the website will automatically prompt you if you would like to resize all your images to match the smallest one. This is up to you if you want to. Choose the delay time between each image/frame (measured in milliseconds). Here you can also choose if you want to add cross fading to your frames. If so, just tick "crossfade frames" and you are ready. Now simply click Animate It and the website will take care of the process.

    Download your GIF. Once the process has been completed, the website will give you the option to make some additional changes to your GIF. If you have added all the effects you want or don't want to add any, simply click Save to download your new GIF.

Method 2 of 2: Converting Videos to GIF

    Visit a website that turns videos into GIF images. Visit a website like this one [2] that is easy to use and free. This website can handle videos up to 50MB in size and supports a range of formats.

    Upload and convert your video. Choose a video you would like to turn into a GIF. Once selected, press Upload and the website will take you to a configuration screen once the upload has completed. Here you can see a preview of the video you uploaded as well as choose from what starting time to what end time your video must be converted. In this case, the start time is 0 and the end time is 5 seconds. Once you have configured your start and end times, press "Convert to GIF" to complete the process.

    Download the completed GIF. The conversion process will take a while to complete depending on the size of your video and the length of your GIF. Once the conversion is complete, the website will give you the choice of adding effects or text to you GIF. If you have already done this or don't want to, simply click Save to download your GIF image. That's all there is to it.

Tips

  • Videos converted to GIF will not contain sound.
  • Not all videos can be converted to GIF as some may lag.
