How to Create an Article About Drawing on wikiHow
Most contributors create articles about drawing certain things. It may be difficult at first to create a drawing article, especially for new contributors. But here's a guide that can help you with creating one of these articles.
Steps
-
1Decide on a title for your article. Make sure the title isn't a duplicate of any other article you're about to create. It will end up getting merged or deleted. Choose a topic that is the most commonly searched one and is distinct from other titles.
- If you'd like, choose a specific title instead of the other title that isn't specific. Make sure you can add specific content to go with the article, or it may end up getting deleted for its accuracy.

2Create an introduction that will try to attract readers to draw the object. Make sure it is 2-5 lines long and has no spelling or grammar mistakes.
- It may not be helpful to readers if the introduction of a drawing article is one line long. Introductions need enough accurate information to be attractive to a reader.
-
3Write the steps. Provide helpful and useful information on drawing the object your article is about. If necessary, include sections. Decide if your article will need parts or methods for sections in an article. Make sure you use correct capitalization, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
-
4Create sub-steps for any extra information about the drawing. Make sure the information in sub-steps aren't similar to the information on the regular steps. To create sub-steps, use #* for the correct formatting.
-
5If your article will need some, add pictures. Make sure they have a good license in them. You can also take screenshots for articles.
- When choosing the license, make sure it doesn't say "I found this image on the Internet. I don't know the license," etc.
- If the image is a screenshot, proved the website address for where you took the screenshot. Make sure the license also mentions the screenshot in it.
-
6Insert a video into your article. Make sure the video matches the content of your drawing article. You don't always have to do this though.
-
7Provide helpful tips. Make sure the tips make sense and they are helpful enough. Do not add tips that will be repeated from the tips and avoid adding tips like have fun drawing, etc. This does not help the reader finish the drawing.
-
8Add the warnings. This may not be necessary since the article is about drawing something, but if there are any important things the reader should watch out for, list them in the warnings section.
-
9Categorize your article. Make sure the category is correct and matches the content of the article. This will make it easy for readers to find the article in the correct category section.
-
10If you found sources or citations that are useful to help the reader, add them. Read the external links policy before doing this though. If you copied the article from another website, write "Source, shared with permission". This will prevent your article from getting deleted.
-
11Add a things you'll need section. List all the objects the reader will need to complete the task.
-
12If you'd like, add a related wikiHows section. Find other wikiHow articles that are related to your drawing article.Ad
Tips
- Read the Writer's Guide for more information on creating a good article.
- Make sure you do not put the needed supplies to complete the task in the ingredients section. Check the Things You'll Need checkbox instead of Food Ingredients.
- If you do not add "Source, shared with permission" in an article you copied, it will get nominated for deletion as a possible copyright violation and may get deleted.
- Check the grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization of your article before publishing. Take out any unnecessary information.
- If you are planning to add a video, read the guidelines first. Read the guidelines for adding the images.
