Having a perfect attendance record helps you avoid missing anything important in class and on campus, and it can really look good on your college application. Start with Step 1, below, to get your attendance on the right track.

Method 1 of 2: Avoiding Sickness

  1. 1
After using the bathroom, wipe yourself with toilet paper and flush. Then wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. It can really prevent you from getting sick, which can lead to staying home from school and breaking the attendance record.

  2. 2
Stay away from kids who look sick or ill. If you do have to touch a sick kid or be near them, immediately wash your hands afterwards. Don't touch your face or anyone else until you wash your hands.
  3. 3
Exercise and eat healthily. This will help you not become sick and not miss school. You should exercise for 30 minutes a day and drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. Eat healthy foods and only eat a small serving of sweets once a week.
  4. 4
Don't share towels, lip glosses/balms, or drinking glasses with anyone. The germs from your friend's towel can transfer to your body, making you sick very easily. Be very careful about what hygiene items to share with and what not to share with.
  5. 5
Avoid tobacco, drugs, and alcohol. Too much of each can make you crash easily and you won't function properly. If you like to drink alcohol, drink responsibly no matter what.

Method 2 of 2: Avoiding Other Absences

  1. 1
Don't skip school with the so-called "cool kids." They are just the distractions to you and your attendance record. Imagine if you did skip school with the "cool kids"; if it became a regular thing, it's likely it would affect your graduation, college attendance, and path in life, and you'd end up regretting it
  2. 2
Try to avoid having dentist/doctor appointments in the middle of the school day. In some school districts, if you leave school in the middle of the day, it still marks absent on your report card. Try to schedule your appointments after school instead.
