How to Make Your Friend Feel Better
Is your friend feeling down? This article will fix your problem; just follow these easy steps.
Steps
-
1Don't ditch your friend. That makes you look like a bad friend and shows that you don't care about he/she feels. People need their friends to talk to them when they are feeling sad or hurt.Ad

2Give your friend advice if he/she is in need. The sub-steps outlined below will give you some tips on giving good advice to your friend.
- Listen to the situation your friend is having. It's always good to listen to what your friend has to say when he/she is feeling agitated. However, you should not be critical or ask negative questions. An example of this, is saying something like "I don't like the boy you want to date; he's so dumb. Why do you want to date him, and not another, smarter, boy?"
- Be kind. Show that you have an understanding of your friend's problem, no matter what advice you want to give. You should also try to avoid stating your thoughts that might hurt your friend's feelings, such as "You're too dumb to go out with that boy!"
- Be sure to have caution when giving advice on something related to relationships.
- You might not be able to offer any help. If so, don't be afraid to say it. Also, if you think your friend needs to see a doctor, therapist, etc. don't be afraid to say it either. Try apologizing, and offer suggestions for other people who might be able to help (such as another friend, a teacher, or their parents). For example, say "I'm sorry, but I can't help you. You could try asking another friend for advice, though.

3Tell your friend that he/she isn't alone. It will make him/her feel a lot better.
-
4Hug your friend and tell him/her that you feel sorry for him/her. This is another thing that will make him/her feel better, and show your friend that you care about other people's feelings.Ad
