How to Be a Low Maintenance Teenager
Being low maintenance not only makes you a helpful and polite person, but it also helps other people who are close to you live their lives easier. You can take a few simple steps to be a low maintenance teenager.
EditSteps
-
1Find your own method of transportation. Ride the bus, walk, or ride your bike to school. This allows your parents more sleep.Ad
-
2Make or help make dinner. You could help make dinner on certain nights and on the other nights make dinner yourself. You could also make leftovers from the night before. Also you could just heat something big enough for you and your family so you don't have to have leftovers the next day.
-
3Don't always bother your parents with little problems like a fight, unless they ask you about school, but don't withhold important things. Which means you don't necessarily need to ask them for everything at every minute.
-
4Be organized. Make sure whenever you're going out somewhere, you have everything ready. People don't want to wait for you. Make sure if you're going out with a friend or a group of friends that you have a cell phone and if you don't then make sure they do, just for emergencies.
-
5Act mature. Accept that you can't get your way 100% of the time. Don't stomp your foot when you don't get what you want, and don't badger your parents 24/7 about it, either. We are living in difficult financial times for both parents and teens. Plus, it is embarrassing.
-
6Do chores. Help out around the house: do dishes, laundry, clean the living room, take out the garbage, clean the bathroom, clean your room, etc.Ad
EditTips
- Get a part-time job if you can. It will help your parents and make you more responsible.
- Focus more on living a simple, happy life. Break down your numerous wants to the urgent basics and try to overcome covetousness.
- Stay calm when things go wrong. Be responsible, and be polite.
- If you have a sibling or young relative with you, try to keep them quiet or, if they need something, help them.
EditWarnings
- If you have a big problem, like drugs or a medical emergency, tell someone.
