How to Get Started with wikiHow
Are you a new contributor here? wikiHow can be difficult at first, but it takes some time to get used to. There are a few ways to get started.

1Get used to the interface. Look around, and have fun. Try taking the wikiHow Tour for help; it gives you a great interview of the site.Ad

2Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you have a question, ask it on someone's talk page. You can also ask questions on the Help Team page, or in our forums. Someone will help you as soon as possible.

3Create your first article. wikiHow is a collaborative how-to manual, so you can start a how-to. Just click the white button on the right side of the website and choose a title. Be sure to search wikiHow for duplicates first.

4Patrol recent changes. Patrolling is fun and an important job to wikiHow. It can be tricky at first, so be sure to take it slow and skip any edits you're not sure about. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask a seasoned patroller!

5Edit your profile. Everybody can see your profile, so you should customize it. You can tell everyone about yourself, why you're here on wikiHow, how you found out about us, etc. Just be sure not to share any personal details, such as your age, grade level, or birthday.

6Reply to a message on your talk page. Anybody can go to your profile and leave a message. You have the option to reply back to them. Most editors use your talk page to communicate to you.
- To get to your messages, click on "My Profile" at the top of any page, and then click on "My talk page".

7Check out the Community Dashboard. It has many options for contributing here, and they should be fun and interactive tools! See which job you like best.
