Research
Dr. Lieberman directs a multidisciplinary research program investigating a variety of areas related to pregnancy outcome, with a primary focus on term labor and birth. Her research focuses on the effect of labor management practices, particularly epidural analgesia used for pain relief, on the course of labor, method of delivery and outcome for the newborn.
She is currently conducting a randomized trial of epidural analgesia to evaluate the etiology, physiologic correlates and clinical consequences of epidural-related fever for the mother and infant. She has recently completed a study investigating the occurrence of fetal occiput posterior position at delivery, a fetal malposition that complicates the delivery process and an analysis of a multicenter study examining predictors of uterine rupture and other adverse outcomes among undergoing trials of labor after previous cesarean.
