Community

As we build our future home on Roosevelt Island, we gain the island’s 14,000 residents as neighbors. Whether to youth, seniors, people with disabilities, the arts community or island governance, we extend our mission of improving the connection between people and technology. In the true land grant tradition, we aim to broadly apply the expertise and resources of Cornell University for lasting impact on the Roosevelt Island community.

    12,000 truck trips avoided on Main Street due to barging of all demolition debris and large scale construction materials.

  • $2.5M

    $2.5 million pledged over 5 years to support a pilot program providing ferry service to and from Roosevelt Island.

I’ve come to appreciate how the gallery space serves as a creative beehive external to the future campus site. Secondly, I’ve found the community to be incredibly friendly, diverse, and international – like a microcosm of the melting pot that is NYC.
