    Another case. $500 bail. Disgruntled employee sends a couple angry text messages. He now gets to go to Rikers island for thanksgiving because he can’t afford to pay FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. Wealth based incarceration? Yup. I think so.

    Reporters often act as stenographers for District Attorneys' false claims about reform. Public defenders and their clients know the truth.

    John is living proof that is full of sh*t. He just spent a night in jail for evading subway fare. The ADA would not agree to dismiss the case. Instead he was forced to take a misdemeanor with $200 in surcharges.

    First of all....stop asking asking for bail on all misdemeanors if you really believe this, . We'll be watching to see how/if this plays out in court.

    Cy Vance () has signed his 2nd brief decrying wealth based incarceration, and arguing that detaining people for inability to pay is unconstitutional.

    Nearly ALL correctional facilities (jail, prison, detention centers) face this problem. Needs to be addressed.

    PROP sees farebeat cases almost every time we monitor Man courts. Vance either lied or can't control his ADAs. Urge press 2 call him on it.

    You have got to be kidding me ! Your office asks for insane bail on the poorest New Yorkers. I agree with you. It *IS* unconstitutional, but you don’t practice what you preach, you hypocrite.
