    Smart context here. Size is irrelevant. Fewer reporters watching anyplace diminishes a fair, functional democratic government.

    The end of the Greater New York section, which published for the last time this morning, is both a shame in itself, and another milestone in what we are losing in local journalism, from our largest communities to our smallest.

    From the home state, maps vax rates by region. Crystal clear vis. Enlightening.

    Here’s (approximately) the regional breakdown of vaccination rate as a share of just the adult population. No region is yet at 70%. (I say approximate because the closest estimate I could get was population 15+, not 16+. So each line is slightly lower than it should be.)
