Instead of going after drug cartels, and violent crime, and major traffickers, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is going after recreational marijuana users. That’s not being smart on crime.

  4. Reminder that the Trump Administration is removing protections for 200,000 Salvadoran immigrants. But this isn’t the first time this has happened. 57,000 Honduran & 2,500 Nicaraguan immigrants had their protected status removed with little warning & no good reason provided.

  5. CHIP covers nearly nine million vulnerable children across our country. Republicans in Congress still have not passed a long-term solution for them. It’s been 105 days.

Today’s alert was a false alarm. At a time of heightened tensions, we need to make sure all information released to the community is accurate. We need to get to the bottom of what happened and make sure it never happens again.

  7. Three years ago, I launched my bid for U.S. Senate. I said we must fight for the next generation, those who are feeling the pinch of stagnant wages, our children burdened by skyrocketing tuition, our immigrants, seniors, and the most vulnerable. These words still hold true today.

What's most insidious about the DACA fight is that we gave these kids a promise as a country that we would not deport them. Now we’re at a moment where we’ve revoked that promise.

Every day we have 122 Dreamers who are losing their status. We have to pay attention to this. There’s a deadline coming up, which is just days from now. A day in the life of these kids is a very long time and we need to focus on this urgent matter ahead of us.

It's an interesting coincidence of timing that the president would speak the hateful words he spoke at a time when we’re honoring a man who said we are one people & human rights should be a priority for all of us. I do believe we are better than this as a country.

The words of a president are very powerful words. Unfortunately, this president has used his words to demean and belittle, instead of uplifting people. It’s simply irresponsible.

If Congress were to extend funding for CHIP for an additional decade, it would save the federal government $6 billion. There’s no excuse not to fund CHIP.

Resources for communities are at stake. Legislative seats are at stake. It’s critical we fully and accurately count the U.S. population.

Representation and positivity matters. We should build young girls up, not tear them down.

Immigrants make our nation stronger. Muslim-Americans make our nation stronger. The LGBTQ community makes our nation stronger. This is the truth — our diversity is our strength.

California has the largest number of Dreamers of any state. These young immigrants must be seen and heard, and I feel a very strong sense of responsibility to use my voice and ability to make sure they are not vilified.

To our brothers, sisters, and friends in immigrant communities at home and across the world, know that we stand with you. Immigrants don’t just belong in America, immigrants have helped build America.

At my first hearing as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I pressed the judicial nominee for the District of Utah, Howard Nielson, Jr., on his history of standing against the rights of LGBTQ Americans.
