Hi Everyone! I'm doing a survey study about people who identify as Black women and read science fiction (broadly construed). If you could help me out by taking the survey, I would greatly appreciate it! The link is included below. If you'd like more...

Such a treat to hear and speak to a room of appreciative Vermont librarians about the value of small local libraries. "the town store doesn't have a 'platform' like Amazon, just a porch out front..."

Adobe is looking for creative pros and enthusiasts with disabilities for a video project. Interviews are in SF and Seattle, and will be compensated. This is an opportunity to tell your story directly to _every designer_ at Adobe. Short survey here:

A fave professional development activity is making the annual Brag Deck that plays in the background at the conference (tomorrow!). So many libraries doing such great stuff.

Driving back home over the mountain, report a tree on a power line. 1st person I tell about this (no cell service most of the drive) is the guy at the post office. He's happy for me anyhow. I find 11¢ in the road. Coffee in my ironic mug. Thanks for coming along on this journey.

If one good thing is going to come out of this, he says, it will be the end of reliance on SSNs as personal identification numbers. "What are they going to replace it with?" I ask "Blockchain?" and he laughs long and hard in a refreshing way. (don't @ me)

"I know there have been some high profile small claims losses for Equifax" (and we can both list all of them) "But I'll be honest, I've won every single one of mine" He says I made a good case, and he personally is really sorry.

I talk to the paralegal afterwards. He gives me his email address "If you want to vent" We talk about interlibrary loan in Georgia and who he is reading lately. He loves craft beer and this trip has been heaven for him relative to his day to day life.

I felt like I made a good case, but because my time and hassle are worth zero dollars, technically, the concept of potential damages is hazy. I would have been better off paying for credit monitoring and asking for that $$ back. Equifax's negligence is not really at issue.

He mentions that Equifax only had five people on small claims before the breach. Now it's basically his full time job. He mentions the entire legal team at Equifax was affected by the breach. "I do get it" he says.
