    This piece uses data from the current version of the Open Science monitor. Note however that gold here is full gold only, while hybrid might be included in green. Not sure the interpretation takes this into account. cc

    Because Plan S also addresses the assessment system and explicitly mentions alternative publication platforms it ties in to the full scholcomm discussion. It can certainly have the effect of getting changing the course of the mainstream. Question is: in what direction will it go?

    Without getting too far into it, I see it as a push back on APCs in a significant way. non-profit OA based on open platforms better aligns w/ OA model followed in LatAm, so I hope it serves to support, not dismantle the way APCs do, the achievements of the region.

    I also disagree with how the issue is being cast as infringement on academic freedom; and certainly disagree that it is hurtful for the Global South—something that I know quite a bit about, as you know.
