    This tweet is going around and I know it's meant to be an angry rejection of modern culture. But it reminds me of road trips with my dad when I was a kid, and the random middle-of-nowhere exits we'd stop at for food, and it fills me with a warm nostalgia.

    If this is culture, I prefer being a barbarian

    Good thread.

    I've mentioned before but it bears repeating, YIMBYs would be way more persuasive if they'd shut up about transit and walkability. The people you need to convince don't like those things. You need to convince them that they'll still be able to live on cul-de-sacs.

    The Max Blumenthals of the world calling centrists/neoliberals/neocons bootlickers while coming up for every excuse and false flag conspiracy theory to cover for the Chinese Communist Party is some of the worst projection there is.

    I don't blame Chinese people for going along with the actions of the Chinese Government. If I was in their position I would probably be forced to do the same thing. What disgusts me is when Westerners make excuses for the human rights abuses of the Chinese Government.
