    Student loans should be forgiven because honestly its predatory lending. You as a lender wouldn’t give an 18-25 year olds with little work history/no income $20K-$150K in loans under any other circumstances but college is the exception? That’s bullshit to me.

    Twitter says I can't add any more tweets to this thread, so obligatory fuck capitalism, internships are awful and just offer peanuts so interns can fight for return offers, hiring pipelines don't scale for jillions of applicants, and what really matters is your manager/team, tbh.

    I was going into everything just wanting to have a job and get to live with my boyfriend, but instead I actually have cool coworkers and a team I love. Diversity is pretty great.

    I dunno where exactly I was going with this. I guess, really - lack of diversity has had profound impacts on me, to the point where I was questioning how good of an engineer I am, since it sucks to be discriminated against.

    On the other hand, there's a big focus towards senior devs and it means junior devs - those who tend to be most vulnerable - are unlikely to get to benefit from at least this diverse workplace.

    It's a pretty mixed bag that the only area I really feel alienated in is my age - on the one hand, it means things are being done well in terms of hiring pipelines/etc.

    It's why diversity is important - the more diverse your pipelines are, the less likely it is that you'll have candidates and interns be alienated and uncomfortable. I'm incredibly fortunate to be on a diverse, queer team and know I'm fine.

    None of this is really meant to condemn any companies - the processes for this stuff have tons of people in them and peoples' experiences could easily be turned around.
