    So important to learn from events of the past to be better prepared for the future. Megathrust earthquakes not only produce strong shaking for several minutes, but also trigger landslides and tsunamis - which can still be found after 100's/1000's of yrs.

    1043 earthquakes located in southwest during the past year, including 30 larger than M4. Most earthquakes were offshore - the largest was M4.9, the smallest (located) was M0.3. Eight were felt. This is a typical pattern on the south coast.
