    +1. As wrote in her GOT article, a good society is one where we don't need heroes. Designing systems where basic rights are only afforded through the goodwill of some participants is doomed to fail.

    This appears to be from the general Elsevier ToS. If it's not otherwise overridden on Elsa, it's is a show-stopper for any author who doesn't want to lose rights to their work from the get-go. (I tried to check, but Elsa won't let me in w Firefox, insisting I use Chrome instead.)

    Apple is making very interesting moves. Also the new no-tracking sign-in. The existing Apple pay via no-tracking cryptographic token. I get the monopoly worry, but honestly these things should become industry standards for everyone.
