I hope Tiffany’s promoters remember: -her winning is (at best) harm reduction; -more money & power to that office is still bad; -she’s an organizing target & therefore the right posture will usually be oppositional not conciliatory; & -(even “good”) prosecutors aren’t your friend

A fun sweetener on the Cabán victory is that Andrew Cuomo did everything he could to kill last year, and they and just delivered a massive upset to his chosen candidate

Ok, before she becomes a national headline, I'd like to take this moment to pump up my article on from back in March. It was the first profile of her in a local news outlet.

This is the most stunning win yet in the movement to elect decarceral prosecutors: Tiffany Caban (), a 31 year-old queer, Latina public defender will become the District Attorney of Queens, the 11th most populous county in America. That’s people power.

We have built the most powerful, the most diverse, the most beautiful coalition that a borough-wide race has ever seen. From formerly incarcerated folks to sex workers to undocumented immigrants to community-based organizations & activists to local & national elected officials.

Tiffany Cabán’s victory is SUPER significant for all queer POC. Queens is now the epicenter of people-focused progressive leadership in America.
