    Community centers with arts, sports & other programming are critical neighborhood infrastructure. East New York & other neighborhoods deserve more community centers, affordable housing, etc. But seriously: Why is NYC $ being used for POLICE to run this instead of the COMMUNITY?

    Commissioner talks about the new NYPD Community Center in East New York: “We’re not just talking about basketball or whatever other athletic events. We’re talking about academic opportunities, music and arts, jobs.”

    My hand is still numb from yesterday's ziptie, a minor discomfort to remind me of an arrest that was both voluntary and planned. Thinking abt all the trauma the people detained involuntarily, at our borders & in our jails, carry with them physically & emotionally. 📷:
