    I have said in the past and I'll repeat again. There is a GREAT story here for an education journalist to dig into. This was a massive investment in for any state. Where did the $ go? Were the goals of the program realized? What diff did it make for kids? Who benefited?

    Schools are struggling with getting adequate funding, but when the adults in charge fail to uphold their basic responsibilities, it undercuts efforts to increase funding to support learning. This is, as usual, an adult failure, and kids are paying the price.

    The claim that "no students will be put into the database" is potentially incredibly misleading, to the point of being an intentional misrepresentation. If the claim is that student images aren't processed by this system, I'd love to see the specifics about how that's possible.

    If it was only wasted money - honestly - I'd feel better about it. Instead, this sets a dangerous and actively harmful precedent. The school community has been sold a bill of goods; this will not make them safer.
