What does the FTC v Facebook settlement mean for Facebook? $5B and some corporate restructuring. What does it mean for you? Honestly, not much. Go ahead and keep using our Facebook Container extension to keep FB from tracking you across the web!

If you manage different accounts in chrome, you have to open different instances and switch between windows. However, in they have an add-on called "Multi-Account Containers" that does the same thing but on the same browser window. It's brilliant!

Our documentation gives Facebook a clear roadmap to make improvements. Important elections are happening around the globe through the end of the year. We need an API that helps researchers & journalists uncover who is buying ads, the way these ads are being targeted and to whom.

A lot has changed in 105 years. We need legislation that reflects a world where the internet not only exists, but serves and protects the people that use it.

So while Facebook should have known better than to repeatedly push (and cross) the line on privacy and data, it's not totally clear which specific behaviors aren't allowed.

Why? The FTC operates under the FTC Act (from 1914, which obviously doesn't explicitly mention the internet or privacy). That means they can only impose enforcement against "unfair or deceptive practices," but don't have the authority to tell you what is okay or not beforehand.

This settlement is a start, but shows what we really need is comprehensive privacy legislation.

Doesn't get much easier than sending files up to 2.5G with Firefox Send. We made it, but you can use it on any browser! You can choose when your link expires, the number of downloads, and whether you want to add a password for even more security.
