Twitter meditation. There are Tweets that upset me. I recognize that they exist but I do not engage. I allow them to vanish. My timeline is relaxed and calm. Namaste.

Exchanged some messages with the author of the bot. They don't use a queue. It's just a cron job. Anomalies in Tweet pattern stem from problems with the script. They will publish a graphical explanation how the bot works soon.

There is a bizarre desire to racialize protesters into a hierarchy. I've seen protests up close in a range of countries, and Hong Kong's protesters are definitely brave, persistent and smart—and use almost identical set of tools on the ground as did those in Middle East.

Forgot the URL of the updated guide how to turn off Retweets for everyone.

Updated my guide, how to turn off Retweets for everyone because Twitter added a nice new option to only mute words from people you don't follow which is checked by default. For the muting of Retweets to work, you need to check "From anyone".

Are more accounts that claim to be humans bots or the other way round?

The account got my attention because people assume that the author created some mashups intentionally. The Tweet in question was posted in question was posted in the regular rhythm (every half hour) though. It's still possible that they just use a queue.

I assume that the automated interface is manually fed or additionally triggered. Could be for testing, could be to disguise human work as the one of a bot. /3

When you only look at the Tweets through the allegedly bot interface, there is a wake-sleep pattern in addition to the 24/7 activity. Obviously in a different time zone than me. Probably America. That pattern matches the wake-sleep pattern of the account when used manually. /2

ML: This account has a probability of 30% to be a bot. Me: The Account is active 24/7. It tweets at least two times per hour. Most of the tweets are posted through an app that nobody else uses. It claims to be a bot. But it's not fully automated and something is suspicious. /1

Climate change is likely to become one of the most common topics for professional disinformation: 1) Relevant everywhere even outside of elections 2) Lots of money to be lost by incumbent interests 3) Several very active info operators are petrostates (Iran, Russia, Saudi)

I'd never quite figured out why asking easily google-able things was so bothersome to so many people (including myself) but Claire really summarized it perfectly here—"it feels like they value my time less than their own"

People in Germany, who got attacked online and don't have the money for a lawyer: will finance one for you. People in Austria: can help you with information and financing a lawyer.

You are responsible for your Twitter account. Politician had to pay 7,5k€ because of a racial slur in a Tweet that was published on his account. He claimed it was an employee. Court said, that he is still responsible.

For the record, yes I know I could choose to register as a “political entity”. But I refuse to, because the science is not political. If FB would let me register as a verified scientist / expert / educator, I’d be happy to. In fact, I’d love to! But as a political org? NO. WAY.
