    . cares more about political optics than action. 25K NYers in jail, 50K NYers in prison, an important bill on his desk to hold prosecutors accountable, a destructive Parole Board yet this is his priority. Lives are on the line; he is more concerned about a tweet.

    Today 25,000 New Yorkers are sitting in jails across Cuomo’s state, most because they can not afford to pay bail, and this is the bullshit Team Cuomo is worried about.

    Anisah talks about the harm women suffer in solitary. Isolated and silenced, they are particularly vulnerable to sexual abuse. This is true for trans people and GNC people, as well.

    Five says the advocacy for people with mental illness was especially meaningful to him. He suffered with his own illnesses in solitary after his son, who had a learning disability, wrote him a letter with some backwards letters. DOCCS alleged it was secret gang language.

    RAND's Valerie Landriscina RA unearthed this hand-drawn 1916 building elevation of Alku, reportedly the first residential co-op in NY. RAND is designing and overseeing a roof & exterior restoration project at the co-op, which is currently applying for historic designation.

    Being removed from watch due to "singing with another patient"? Sickening but happens all the time. Often any socialization betw patients housed (in isolation) in crisis observation area is marked as a sign everything is fine & patient is "malingering."

    It doesn’t take long for anyone doing real, principled social justice work in New York to realize this about .

    It's really disgusting to me. Cuomo always does the politically expedient thing first. He makes symbolic gestures constantly. He doesn't do anything worth doing though. Nothing worth doing on moral grounds ever. This is not leadership.
