    You have many stalwart allies - we continue to advocate alongside you to ensure better support for the mental health and wellbeing of military personnel (ideally to avoid OTH discharges), as well as for veterans with OTH status.

    I never thought I would see the day. Civilians, led by legal experts, joining our fight against discharges. Thank you for inspiring hope, now we must work with to reach those who’ve already given up, wherever they are.

    Tom was an infantry Marine who self-medicated with marijuana to deal with his PTSD. Despite his OTH, Tom fought to attend college through Voc Rehab. He is now a pastor and an incredible example of how vets with OTH discharges can give back when they receive proper treatment

    "Mark" attempted suicide while on active duty. For missing a training exercise, he received an OTH. Mark was unable to get help for his PTSD, and he suffered with the loss of his identity as a soldier. He took his life while his wife struggled to get him into treatment in CT

    "Sarah" is an Army and CTNG veteran, Bridgeport resident. After missing drill time during intensive PTSD treatment, Sarah received an OTH. Despite her VA characterization of service determination and 100% disability rating for PTSD and TBI, Sarah is ineligible for state benefits

    Our proposal would provide state benefits to this population of veterans who we've left behind. Made whole, these veterans can be leaders in our communities and in the state. It's time we help them lay the foundation for their own futures here in Connecticut

    We can't sit and wait for Washington to figure this out while our brothers and sisters continue to struggle. The discharge upgrade process is plagued with bias on the basis of mental health, race, and sexual orientation, and even when successful takes years to navigate
