I forgot about Pando too... you’re not alone, . Also, kick ass headline here. Pando, an early digital news outlet very comfortable telling everyone they were wrong about everything, has been sold to an adtech company

Today the chose to eliminate my role, stating that there is no need for a dedicated focus on newsroom and journalistic security. I strongly believe in what I do (and what we did), and to say I’m disappointed would be an understatement. (1/3)

Can finally talk about one of the big pieces of news in Catch and Kill: it’s the first time a reporter has gained access to AMI’s list of the contents of its vault of Trump secrets—and the first disclosure of claims that AMI destroyed material about Trump before the election.

What's with the 'pay what you want' membership model we're using at The Correspondent? In short, we believe in a pricing model based on trust, inclusivity, and solidarity. For the long version, read on:

And finally, it’s worth remembering that political advertising on television (much of it local) is going to be *by far* the biggest slice of the pie in terms of money spent. By far.

So feel free to blame Facebook for everything from the current occupant of the white house to the crappy weather outside if you want to. But the problem with political advertising is one you can’t lay at their feet.

There are more regulations governing ads for face cream than there are political advertising—on Facebook, on TV, in print. Anywhere. The courts have regularly struck down laws that try to assert a “truth in advertising” requirement for political ads.

I am sympathetic to the view that politicians shouldn’t be allowed to lie in ads. I understand the obsession with Facebook. But folks, lying in political advertising isn’t just reality; it’s practically a constitutionally protected right.

So, there it is, and . Yankees swept. I mean, I don’t want to say I told you so… but I told you so. Believe me when I said I wanted to be wrong. Desperately. But Star Wars is a movie, and in this world, the Empire always freakin’ wins.

Sorry to keep banging on about this. But here again the does terrific work on the news side—while it’s editorial page systematically undermines it. Is it any wonder people don’t know what to believe anymore?

Kinda surprised this ruling hasn’t generated more discussion. Curious what people think the implications could be for free-speech — and how this squares with the Google ruling last week.
