All research & practicing psychologists need to have good writing skills. Developing arguments, summarising and sharing important information for different audiences, being clear etc. are all essential. Writing blog posts can help develop these

  3. Are you: * An EP (any experience level), * Working in any context within the UK, * Who uses consultation as part of your normal work? Would you kindly be interviewed for my thesis? Consultation only has to form a small part of your work. Please DM for details. RTs appreciated.

Took me a few seconds to work it out but this is cool: the data point is just as likely (presuming it's equally distant from the top of the bar chart) for either bar plot, but we (including myself) interpret points "within" the bar as more likely.

Here’s a tweet that really perfectly illustrates the problem of over-generalising that we have in psychology research. Statement: there’s a GLOBAL crisis. Sole evidence presented: AMERICAN adults.

Updated my post on bilingualism and executive functioning to include a recent RCT which found no evidence of improvement in intelligence or any executive functioning dimensions after teaching older participants a second language

Thought i might put a photo up that has more than 6 pixels in it. Also from last summer (I take very few photos). I'm also not usually this smartly dressed haha but it was a nice meal and the shirt was a gift.

One of the things I appreciate about qualitative research that I wish we did more in quantitative research: researchers explicitly acknowledge their humanity and how it shapes their interpretations instead of pretending that methodological tools magically imbue objectivity.

Should i reveal my identity on twitter? The shine of anonymity is kind of wearing off. I'll still write under the pseudonym but I'll out myself on twitter (plus a kind of 'ask me anything') and include actual details about me on my 'About' page (including my academic website)

Psychology research may be able to provide insight during a crisis, but a lot of the research isn't high quality enough to know. Having a scale to give guidance as to how ready research is to help in a crisis is valuable

Applying theory to pilot interventions is hard, scaling pilots to the full context is hard. Doing so now is risky. I strongly encourage everyone to read this from and take it on board (the points apply to all research, not just Covid-19)

There's a disgustingly worded Psychology Today article being shared by a few psychologists. Whilst all of those who are retweeting etc are critical of it, you're still spreading something that dehumanises people. I'd ask you to please refrain from doing so, as no good will come
