    This means it's easier to design software applications with massive amounts of data - it's amazing how quickly so many analog processes are moving to digital, and things like this means it will move even faster.

    we get a lot of questions about how to balance open source licensing with traditional enterprise software models. it can be hard to sell something that's available for free. if you manage and run the software, however, a lot of those questions suddenly have easy answers.

    We launched Astra today, a database-as-a-service for Apache Cassandra. It includes five open source projects to support Cassandra on Kubernetes, which I wrote up here:

    Immigrants are so crucial to our country. Suspending immigration will destroy rather than protect jobs, slow recovery, and hinder the work of developers who build the software we all depend on, along with so many others.

    Immigrants have always been vital to the US economy and to GitHub. Potential exec order to “temporarily suspend immigration” adds uncertainty and anguish for developers, will slow recovery and hinder innovation. We need immigrants to get us through this & help us move forward.
