The Bitronix project is dormant and is looking for new maintainers. Other than documentation and README updates, the last commit to the project was 4 years ago. We should deprecate our support for Bitronix in 2.3 with a view to removing it in 2.4.

I wonder if it would be more beneficial for people to use Java 8 syntax for coding in interviews (many of them prefer it), and if so, if we should update our codebase to Java 8. I am up for making the changes.
