The other sinister thing about accessibility overlays: they thrive because (non-disabled) people want to believe they can press a magic button to remove systematic barriers. Anything sounds better than meaningful, continuous work to repair the damage of ableism.

If your product promises to “automate” accessibility with an overlay, please know this: I do not like you. Ableism is essential to your profit model. You actively and deliberately harm disabled users and the web. I will not network with you. I will not endorse your product.

Can anyone who uses TWBlue tell me how to find the URL of a tweet, as in where to find the tweet on the Twitter website?

Do you download source and build tools and run the compiler every time you run an app on your desktop? No? Then why is it fine to make web users do it? An intemperate rant aimed at the non-thinking bits of the web industry. (And not Gentoo, which is fine.)

I am a junior researcher in Neuroscience / Psychology / Psychiatry, keen to find out what people (like myself) *really* want from research. So, I am , if I could do any study in the world for you, what would you like it to be? Please RT! 🏳️‍🌈

Excellent read laying out the pitfalls with ‘modern’ frontend single page application architecture. 99% of the time you can do it on the server which is better in terms of performance, reliability, accessibility, usability and cost. I just wish it was cool to be boring.

If your workplace isn’t safe, you don’t have to work there. Section 44 of the 1996 Employment Rights Act is clear on this. Stay home, save lives.

Germany have handled the Covid-19 outbreak incredibly well, but even they have seen infections rise above R=1 when easing the lockdown. Please RT if you’re happy for our lockdown to stay in place for as long as it takes.

Please don’t be too distracted by the new slogan. The rules that remain in place are what really matters. So please continue to: * Stay at home whenever possible * Limit contact with others * Keep 2m apart * Wash your hands often And please RT to remind others to do the same

So will launch the UK's new slogan later today: "Stay alert...". Reminds me of the old "Be alert... your country needs lerts", and frankly I think we've got more than enough of those already!

Can anyone in the EU point me at a website that has a cookie notice that is impossible to accept if you use a screen reader? I often come across them but now I actually need one I can't find one...

“At the time, we were liberated. Today, we must liberate ourselves… From hatred and hate speech, from xenophobia and contempt for democracy – for they are but the old evil in a new guise.” The President of Germany marks 75 years since the end of the war in Europe.
