    Just completed an agreed POCA remotely via Skype. Defs were hundreds of miles apart but joined the hearing via their smart phones. A very efficient (and green) way of hearing a simple case, hopefully a mode of hearing the Courts can keep for the future.

    This thread is v interesting and well worth a read. I’m sure many are unhappy about the state of the law in this area.

    I have been following this case with interest because of its inclusion in my Master’s dissertation. I wrote about the relationship between deception and consent and whether the Sexual Offences Act 2003 adequately protects victims of rape. In case anyone is interested, I have [1]

    Today one of our founding trustees retires from the Court of Appeal. Called to the Bar 1973 by , HoC at 4 Brick Ct (now ), 1st female Chair of . Listen to Anne Rafferty’s story as told to here

    To some, Rafferty Law may be an actor. For me, Rafferty law suggests a twinkly charm combined with a ferocious courtroom presence. The best reason for raising the judicial retirement age would be to retain fine judges like the raffish Lady Justice Rafferty, who retires today.🥂

    Seems scarcely believable that Rafferty LJ is retiring due to some arbitrary age threshold. Has the energy and vigour of many women (and most men) half her age. Strongly suspect there will be no pipe and slippers next though!
