  6. While our big 70 metre dish Deep Space Station 43 is getting all the love and attention at the moment, we thought we'd give a shout-out and big hug to our three hardworking 34 metre antennas - & which are helping to take up the load. 📡❤️📡❤️📡❤️

  7. After its trip from the United States onto a cargo ship and then across the Pacific and coming down by truck from Sydney, our new X-Band Transmitter/Receiver cone has arrived in Canberra to be installed on .📡 Halfway across the world and now on to the Universe!🌌

Still wrapped on blue plastic, the new X-Band Transmitter / Receiver Cone for DSS43 has arrived.
Being prepared in the US, the new X-Band Transmitter / Receiver Cone for DSS43 was shipped to Australia.
Loaded into the hold of a cargo ship, the new X-Band Transmitter / Receiver Cone for DSS43 was shipped to Australia.
Arriving in Canberra via truck, the new X-Band Transmitter / Receiver Cone for DSS43 was unloaded by crane.

  8. A crane's eye view of the centre of the 70 metre dish.📡🏗️ A lot of equipment is being removed from the central transmitter & receiver structure. One of the three tall cones (with the ladders on them), will be removed and a new one installed to house the upgraded systems.

  10. THIS IS SO MUCH FUN!!!🤣😁😎 Okay, not exactly how we do our spacecraft tracking but it had us chuckling away.📡〰️〰️〰️🛰️ Oh yes, and ahem, it's also very educational.🤓 But fun too!!!

  11. The pump-house (aka The Caravan) was removed from our 70 metre antenna today for refurbishment while it's safely on the ground. This is first major piece of equipment removed from Deep Space Station 43 during the upgrade. More to come with even bigger cranes...stay tuned!

  16. One of the reasons we are upgrading Deep Space Station 43 is so that it can support future space missions such as 's project to place the first woman and the next man on the Moon. When we arrived today, the Moon was just above the horizon nestled by 📡🌕

  17. Seems appropriate that the big crane we are using today is called a , which is of course also the name of Saturn's largest moon.🪐🌖 This is also all happening right next to Road🛣️ The universe has ways of making things work like that.😎

  18. Time for a lift🏗️📡 Scaffolding is being installed inside Deep Space Station 43's dish to provide engineers with a safe work platform when moving large pieces of equipment in and out of the central cone structure which houses the receivers and transmitters.
