    Aside from the lightning, the cluster of severe thunderstorms are generating extremely strong erratic wind gusts which can cause downed trees, power lines, and other structural damage as well as difficulty driving. Here are peak gusts. Please take this storm seriously.

    Wild night in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is probably the most widespread and violent summer thunderstorm event in memory for Bay Area, & it's also one of the hottest nights in years. Convective gusts 60+ mph; enormous amount of (partially dry) lightning. Wow.

    Here's the latest satellite imagery combined with lightning flash density overlaid. As you can see, we have a very active line of thunderstorms off the coast. Strong, erratic outflow winds of 50mph are possible with these thunderstorms.
