    The suggestion that a sovereign state cannot be sovereign when it is party to a treaty is inherently absurd, as the modern notion of a sovereign state is that it is a state capable of entering into a treaty

    In fairness to the Telegraph, they are taking their cue from the press release from the actual Ministry of Justice, casually referring to people accused *and not convicted* of crimes as “offenders”.

    And, right on cue, some in the Telegraph’s reporting of the story. By definition, the people affected are neither “criminals” nor “offenders”. They are people accused of a criminal offence, awaiting trial, a number of whom will be wholly innocent.

    COVID-19 is very different disease from the one we thought it was in March. We now know it is multi-systemic, and it might turn out to be able to cause damage in anyone infected, even if asymptomatic. Yet I see no shift in public health messaging and campaigns to acknowledge this

    The for jobs for 16-24 year olds sounds like its going to be strangled at birth. Need to create 30 jobs minimum, apply for the jobs to be accepted, wait for it to be approved before you can look to hire IF the employee qualifies. Will only benefit large companies
