  1. Declaration of Harvest dates by Government has paid dividends.The quality and the overall image of Uganda’s vanilla industry has improved. This is evidenced by positive testimonies from the Global Vanilla Buying Community, organized under the Sustainable Vanilla Initiative.

  2. For the past two years, we have been declaring vanilla harvest dates in a bid to improve the quality of the crop and promote Uganda’s global position as the leading source of high quality vanilla.

  3. I have also directed my Ministry staff to be vigilant on this issue, especially the Agricultural Police, in collaboration with the Private Sector who are called upon to popularize these harvest dates, to hunt down and expose all culprits who do not respect them.

  4. Today 4th December 2020 I have declared 11th of January 2021 onwards as the appropriate date to start harvesting vanilla for the second season of the year 2020 in Uganda.

  5. UNBS was represented by the Ag. Executive Director, Mr. David Livingston Ebiru while Prisma Limited was represented by Mr. Francis Olul. This is much needed intervention because it will go a long way to ease our work in certifying quality products for export.

  6. The laboratory will ensure that the equipment in the National Food Safety Laboratory and other agro-food processing laboratories in the Country are calibrated to ensure accurate measurement and reliable test results to support exports & consumer safety.

  7. Today the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Mr. Pius Wakabi Kasajja has signed a contract with Prisma Limited to construct a state-of-the-art National Metrology laboratory for testing and certification of all agricultural products.

  9. We have prepared a number of policies and regulations including the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Policy. The Fisheries and Aquaculture Bill 2020 is in UPPC for printing and it will soon be submitted to Parliament.

  18. Today on behalf of Government of Uganda through NAADS, we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Inter-religious council of Uganda (IRCU).

  19. On 21st November 2020, Uganda will join the rest of the World to celebrate the World Fisheries Day. The main celebrations will be in Bugiri District. RT. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga the Speaker of Parliament of Uganda will be the chief guest.

  20. Upon approval of their applications, the farmers shall be connected to the network and provided with watering points. This will be replicated to other areas in the Country as one of our efforts to transform Ugandans from subsistence farming to commercial Agriculture.
