Regarding the drop down menu, yes, I think it would be better to only have the "task cell" option visible for markdown cells.

The documentation asserts this too "If you select the “Manually graded task” option (available for markdown cells), the nbgrader extension will ..."

Sometimes people use the instructions from this repository and run into problems (it is unknown how many use it and are happy!). For those with problems my impression is that the best piece of advice is "don't use this, use TLJH instead your problems are probably going to go away by swit

I thought I'd be able to just clone and make run as the docs say - but it looks like (I've only just begun to dig) the nfs container (and jupyterhub-network) don't have the IP addresses you've put in .env - and so the hub container can't start.
