    Legal workers, judges & ct officers died of COVID yet courts are SUDDENLY opening for in person appearances. 0 regard for our clients, members, or the public. This is bad policy Speedy trial is still suspended but folx can come to risk COVID

    Legal defender services say a decision by the state’s judiciary to require some in-person court appearances unnecessarily endangers everyone working in NYC courthouses.

    THREAD: The fear-bating from this wk also included Trump-isms like saying issue is not gun control but "bad people" & suggesting would like to see more 13 yo's in jail. Important that these reporters looked @ the data, but doesn't undo harm of his lies 1/4

    The Post did some digging and found that — surprise! — the New Yorkers let out of jail under bail reform and cover releases are not, in fact, running roughshod and causing violence, despite persistent blame-game claims by the brass. Stellar work here

    Thank you . As the NY Senate & Assembly meet today to set their last agenda of bills before we go to the polls, must be included. : bring HALT to a vote and end this torture now! It is long overdue. People are suffering.

    As Chair of the Assembly Cmte. on Correction and co-sponsor of A2500, I support bringing the bill to a vote when we are back in session. We must stop the use of solitary confinement, which has already been limited in states like New Jersey & Colorado, in NYS prisons
