This boils down to upgrading to the latest libwebp.

Actually, I was started to work on animated WebP support couple weeks ago, but I've been busy recently,so it's not finished yet. I planned to finish it this week, I'll let you know. Thanks.

Hi,
I didn't have enough time to work around animations, it's much harder to show animations on quicklook, it requires different techniques. As I said I don't have time but I will add animation soon if I can. The plugin fails for animated files and I worked on it and now it shows the first frame of animation on both preview and thumbnail. I thought it's better than broken. I hope that helps right now, I let you know when I finished the full solution.
