JTAG based Programmer/Debugger
The J-Link Debug Probe is a USB-powered in-circuit debugger providing debug and programming support over the Joint Test Action Group (JTAG) interface. Available in a number of configurations, the J-Link Debug Probe presently supports the PIC32 family of MCUs. Starting with version 2.15 of MPLAB® X IDE, the J-Link Debug Probe is fully supported through an IDE based plug-in.
Debugger
When used as a debugger, the J-Link Debug Probe employs a proprietary approach to provide unlimited software breakpoints stored and managed in RAM. This means that software breakpoints no longer risk the accelerated wear out of the Flash memory due to its inherently limited number of write cycles. Using RAM for software breakpoints bypasses this limitation entirely. In addition, RAM-based software breakpoints can result in significantly faster debugging.
Significant Features:
- Supports JTAG chains with multiple devices
- USB-powered
- Direct download into flash memory
- Download speed up to 1 MByte/second
- Unlimited breakpoints
- Remote Server included allowing use of J-Link remotely via TCP/IP
- Cross-platform support for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X
- SDK available
