Accidental Presidents is out in paperback. It's filled w/stories of presidential power, murder conspiracies, brawls in Congress, and the stories of 8 men who became president when their predecessor died. Curious how history was altered by a heartbeat?

FDR was both the last president inaugurated on March 4 and the first president inaugurated on January 20. The 20th amendment was ratified in Feb 1933 so it wasn’t until 1937 that the changed date kicked in.

I know COVID seems like it is subsiding. But the B117 variant is spreading. What we do now to stop it determines whether it takes over and fills hospitals again in 2 months. It's going to take more than vaccinations--the supply won't come fast enough.

I worked with Lokman over the course of 10+ yrs both in and out of govt. He was a brave and creative activist who fought a difficult uphill battle to counter Hezbollah and other violent extremist Shia militias in levantes. His murder is a loss for peace
