With a very strange year behind us, we reflect in a blog post on what appeared to be a productive time for NewReleases https://newreleases.io/post/retrospective-2020 ….

In that spirit, we also provide some sort of monitoring and alerting. We monitor releases of all software important for you and you choose how often do you want to be bothered, khm, I mean, alerted about it.

From today until Thursday, http://NewReleases.io  team will attend #ObservabilityCON, to get advice on Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Cortex, or Graphite from members of the @grafana team. Great opportunity to improve our monitoring setup.

We are using an excellent list of 573M passwords provided by https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords . But completely internally. No password or password hash leaves our servers. Thank you @troyhunt for generously providing carefully collected and organized priceless data.

1/3 #Debian projects tracking is useful for systems administrators to be up to date with the packaging efforts and also for @Debian specific tooling. Btw, all of our servers are running Debian, of course.

2/3 Having the same #GitLab API for self-hosted instances as on the http://gitlab.com  made our technical implementation very easy, even trivial, to extend.

1/3 Some of a large, important and privacy concerned #FOSS projects decided to use a self hosted @GitLab for code management and collaboration. This was brought to our attention by our users which use them and share similar principles. We decided to give our support, of course!
