    Born in Norwalk, California, artist Ruth Asawa studied drawing and painting while being held in a temporary internment camp for Japanese Americans in 1942, with professional artists who were also internees. 📷:

    Born into slavery c. March 1822 as Araminta Ross, Harriet Tubman rebelled against servitude, running away as early as age seven. She was also a spy for the Union Army during the Civil War and in 1899, petitioned Congress for her military pension. 📷:

    Did you know today is ? Today and always we celebrate Tubman who became an active "conductor" on the Underground Railroad, guiding escaping slaves to freedom and fought for women’s financial freedom. 📷:
