    Celebrating International Women’s Day we look at one of Scotland’s greatest astronomers, Williamina Fleming. Born in Dundee in 1857, Fleming worked at Harvard College Observatory in Boston, USA, where she devised a system of star classification and discovered the Horsehead Nebula

  9. BIG NEWS: Fabrication of the 6th mirror for the Giant Magellan Telescope has begun! The 7th and final mirror is expected to be cast in 2023. Upon completion, the GMT will allow us to see further into the universe than any optical telescope ever before.
