The contacts list in my phone is not a list of my friends. There are people on that list that I never want to hear from and that I would prefer not to have any information about what I'm doing. I will never want to send an invite to anything to my contacts list.

End-to-end encryption is not designed to protect your communications against endpoint attacks. This is like complaining that your butter knife is not a good pasta strainer. That's not what it's for, ffs.

You don't need permission to become a security researcher. Occasionally, you need forgiveness, but not permission.

Iran is blocking citizens from using Signal, so Signal added tools to bypass the block. They're asking for help from folks who can run a proxy to securely route traffic to Signal:

Before you insist to me that you can't possibly be being scammed with a standard sextortion email, please enter your email address in haveibeenpwned. This will save us both a lot of time.

The people who suggest that the “right” way to combat stalking, harassment, rape, and domestic abuse is to report perpetrators to law enforcement have much more faith in law enforcement than I do.

I hear from survivors of domestic abuse every day. Often, that abuse includes online stalking or harassment. Often the only recourse survivors have is to tell their stories. The right to anonymous speech and CDA 230 both help them do so safely.
