    To build on this, people don’t become trans when they start presenting as their correct gender in public. They’ve likely been trans their entire lives. So that person standing at the urinal next to you may look like a man, but they could be a woman who hasn’t transitioned yet.

    This is happening with the support of the United States. I don’t care how any spokesperson tries to spin this. The US vetoed the UN call for ceasefire. If the Biden admin can’t stand up to an ally, who can it stand up to? How can they credibly claim to stand for human rights?

    Oh my god. The building where al Jazeera’s office is housed has just been taken down by Israeli airstrikes. There was a warning and evacuated. It houses offices and private homes. I can’t believe it.

    Hopefully COVID-19 has universally normalized masking as an obviously correct public health measure. And if you want to wear a mask as a precaution even when you're not sick or at risk of spreading an illness, that's all good too.

    The Asian cultural norm of wearing a surgical mask when sick is 100% correct and good. All cultures that do not are simply wrong on this issue.

    I’m also desperately waiting for to get involved somehow in a political scandal. Just so we can call it “Elongate”.

    I’ve had this theory for a while about and crypto, but was afraid to share it (in case I spoil the fun). I’m not a fanboy, and he has his issues (as do we all), but I do think he’s helped move the needle away from fossil fuels towards renewables in a major way. 1/

    (The fact that he also seems to be cashing out in a big way does seem problematic, and I could easily be giving him way too much credit, but in theory, using the gains to repeat pump-and-dump could also cause enough people to lose faith that it all collapses.) Interesting times.

    Maybe I’m giving him too much credit here, but I’m genuinely curious to see how this plays out. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see him launch a few 51% attacks on various crypto-coins just to cause havoc. He has the means, and the motive. 7/

    This is actually something he could do. He just demonstrated he has enough cash and public influence to cause huge swings in value. He also has a history of fucking with Tesla short-sellers. 6/

    Given that Bitcoin is a problem, how does one person go about killing it? It was designed to resist regulation, so lobbying the gov’t is an uphill battle at best. Another approach is to just fuck with the crypto-bros and bankrupt them all. 5/

    The fact that Bitcoin pretty much wiped out all the gains of solar is no secret. And you have to be delusional or an idiot to think that we can have Bitcoin and save the environment too. I don’t think Elon is an idiot, and don’t think he’s delusional either. 3/

    I believe he honestly cares about this issue. Yes, he’s profiting from it, but that’s part of the point. Showing that fixing the environment can be profitable gets others to follow suit in a big way. So when he started hyping crypto I was, let’s say, confused. 2/
