    After journeying around the Moon and an international tour, the Command Module (call sign Charlie Brown) landed at the Science Museum in 1976. In this blog from the archives, Curator Doug Millard takes us back in time to the day it arrived at its new home:

    1969 Apollo 10 launched carrying astronauts Thomas Stafford, John Young & Eugene Cernan on a lunar orbital mission as the dress rehearsal for the Apollo 11 Moon landing. The command module is on display in our Making the Modern World gallery! 🚀

    The Apollo 10 Command/Service Module is seen from the Lunar Module after separation, pictured against the Moon's cratered surface and the black backdrop of space beyond the Moon's horizon.

    On 18 May 1991, Helen Sharman launched on the Juno mission to the MIR Space Station on board the Soyuz TM-12 along with cosmonauts Anatoly (‘Tole’) Artsebarsky and Sergei Krikalev. Helen told us more about the mission in this blog from the archives:
