Important work from , and thanks to for bringing this more visibility. One of the final points of the interview is critical: that in today’s world, underrepresentation on Wikipedia has enormous ripple effects to other information sources.

Now on , discusses on women in Wikipedia with : (paraphrasing) "Less than 19% of Wikipedia biographies are on women. The percentage of articles for deletion about women were over 25%. Women were more likely to be found non-notable."

On All Things Considered we’ll discuss why women are seen as less notable subjects and how my data demonstrate women are more likely to be nominated for deletion because of those implicit perceptions

This is an awesome first step. Unfortunately, my research shows that women who meet Wikipedia’s criteria for inclusion are more likely to be considered non-notable and nominated for deletion. After these important women are added let’s be sure they stay protected!

Not recognizing or valuing oral history is a form of racism called epistemic racism—where certain forms of knowledge are considered superior to others.

Academia: Wow, we're still struggling with bringing BIPOC into many areas of academia. Why? BIPOC: Give us money? Few of us have generational wealth or savings & we're saddled with comparatively more student debt. Academia: It's a mystery... Anyway here's a diversity workshop.

Working with a PhD student on this now who helps treat kids with autism. Instead of drs telling patients “don’t Google it” give patients a list of what *to* Google. Manipulators understand how information systems work and exploit media literacies.

Good morning, pals. Today there's a LGBTQ kid in your community who isn't getting the support they need. Be a visible ally whenever you can. It can make a big difference in that kid's life, from showing them they matter to promoting more acceptance all around you.

Not a metaphor. National Archives of India Annexe building is scheduled for demolition. It contains: 4.5 m files, 25K manuscripts, 1 m maps, ~1 m Mughal Empire documents–many pre-1857. No one knows when this will happen and archivists haven't been consulted to manage the process.

Saw why Kinkos trending. I'll be honest. I never thought voter ID laws were discriminatory until it affected me when we moved to Indiana close to election time. Rushed to DMV to get our "free" voter IDs. Hubby could get one on the spot. Not me.

But honestly, what they are describing (a network of driverless pods that get you where you want fast and alleviate traffic) is…..a train. Invest in public transportation 🇺🇸
