‘My mum wasn’t a fan of Van Gogh’s paintings and I only knew the Sunflowers, but that wasn’t a painting that I liked. When I had my first guided tour of the museum, I was truly surprised: I really liked his work! I shouldn't have judged Van Gogh’s work to quickly’ wrote Amina

Vincent had wanted to capture the stars. Once he did, he quickly wrote a letter to Theo, and enclosed a small sketch of the painting. ‘I go outside at night to paint the stars, and I always dream a painting like that, with a group of lively figures of the pals’

Van Gogh's love was always deeply engaged, impassioned. He wrote: ‘I regard love – as I do friendship – not only as a feeling but chiefly as an action. [..] Where people love sincerely and in good faith, they are blessed I believe, although that doesn't dispel difficult times’.
