Sharing again for my little sister, who has been through so much and teaches me what perseverance looks like. Anything you can spare is deeply appreciated as she navigates her devastating new illness.

  5. Absolutely gutted. Four members of a Muslim family, in Ontario, were killed last night when a 20 year old man drove his car into them. They were targeted because of their faith, according to police. They're survived by one 9-year-old child. Innalilahi wa innalilahi raji'un.

Hi new followers. Some climate basics: 1) Civilizational collapse isn’t inevitable. This way of thinking serves only to absolve us from action. 2) The cause of the ecological crisis is racial capitalism, not overpopulation. 3) Given no.2, there are no market-based solutions.

Assembling this was very nearly my Waterloo. 👀 <Siri picked up on that unprompted>

Disassembled red Adirondack chair sitting on concrete
Siri asking ‘what can I help you with?’

Community organizers in Sierra Leone are planning events in solidarity against Trans Mountain. Connecting the pipeline to the climate impacts there, flooding, life threatening storms. Hosting a rally, radio show, delivering letters to insurance companies, huge gratitude

Turns out, humans *can* be a force for good in the ecosystem, and were for thousands of years. So it's about damn time we start to listen to Indigenous scientists. Super proud of this week's segment, featuring the incredible .

It's World Environment Day! Check out a riparian area and enjoy the sounds and sights of a healthy ecosystem! Riparian areas naturally filter water, protect against flood & droughts, and provide wildlife habitat. Watch our video on riparian health.

I will keep coming back to this for as long as it takes. Especially when working in academia, a space that centres extraction and ego. I keep telling myself that world has already fallen, we navigate the echoes of it.
