Below is a thread about the future of remote work after the COVID-19 pandemic is over. I predict that remote will go through a trough of sorrow due to hybrid not working out, and most companies will return to being office based. But many all remote companies will see success.

"Prices have risen at an annualized rate of 7.1% in 2021 ... annual Producer Price Index for 2021 up 10.6% ... Import Price Index up 15.8%" Will the expiration of unemployment benefits and the stabilization of the supply chain allow inflation to taper off?

In Amsterdam they have two bridge operators who leapfrog each other. They go between the bridges with bikes. And they only operate at night in one convoy each way to reduce the impact on street traffic.

TikTok is now more downloaded than Facebook. And it makes me feel so much better about myself, the mundane things in life, and humanity. This is one of those positive videos: Also, it is addictive and big time suck :/

But these emission rights belong to the citizens, not the producer. Every citizen in the EU should get an equal share of the emission rights which they can sell to the industry. This that low income households who spend relatively more on carbon but absolutely less can benefit.

The EU ETS system of giving emission rights to existing polluters amounts to a giant handout to the industry. You can’t explain it from first principles, why should a historical producer be taxed less than a new one? I understand this made it easier to get the industry on board.

To mitigate climate change we need to tax all greenhouse gas emissions in every country. The proceeds should go to basic income or something else that benefits low income households, since they spend a disproportionate share of income on these carbon-intensive goods and services.

VR / AR are not comfortable enough to replace low impact activities like zoom meetings. Hardware is probably 5 to 10 yrs out for that still. VR does shine for gaming and high impact activities like simulation training where VR is clearly better than status quo. FB needs patience.

I wonder if Facebook is dogfooding the metaverse. Are they holding many meetings in VR? The Oculus Quest is a great device but I want to use it about as much as I use rollercoasters, not as much as I use YouTube.
